A small, free, in-person lab in Berlin on materiality, read through energy, memory and science fiction, ending in a collectively made public presentation. Unpaid, and you have to be there for all six sessions.
Conceived by Sumac Space (Jung Hsu, Davood Madadpoor, Selen Solak) with a guest keynote by Rheim Alkadhi in person. Group presentations and discussion 2 to 5 November, 17:30 to 20:30; preparation for a collective performative lecture and installation on 11 November, 11:00 to 17:00; public opening 12 November, 18:00 to 21:00. Held at Galerie Amelie Conrad, Donaustrasse 84, Neukölln. To apply, email contact@sumac.space with a short bio, a link to your work and a few sentences on why you are interested and how your practice engages with materiality. The work you link to does the arguing here, so an organised portfolio with titles, materials and years helps.
Who can apply
Artists and researchers of any discipline whose work closely engages with materiality. Small group. Held in English, in person in Berlin, and participants must attend every session.
Fee to apply
Free to take part. No application fee. The lab is unpaid.
Checked 14 October 2026. Listed from the organiser’s announcement. Always confirm the deadline with the organiser before you apply.
Applying to this?
This one wants what they all want: images, titles, year, medium, dimensions. Keep those on the works themselves and Samlio lays out the portfolio for you, one work to a page, with prices left out of the file that goes to the jury.
Every other Tuesday, three calls worth your evening, with what they pay, what they cost and who they really suit. The same reading you just did, done for you, and an honest word on which one to try.
